Humboldt's First-Ever Canstruction®

We at Food for People would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made this year's Canstruction® Event such a huge success! Thanks to all of our teams who worked so hard on and in preparation for this event - they all created fantastic works of art for the betterment of their community. Special thanks to our three local judges (Supervisor Bonnie Neely, Amy Berkowitz of KHUM, and Harbor District Commissioner Pat Higgins) for taking time away from their busy schedules to join us at the Bayshore Mall on the build-day. Thank you to our friends at the Bayshore Mall for being such fabulous hosts. We would also like to highlight the continued generosity of the Northcoast Co-op who sponsored this exciting new event - its success is truly a product of their support!

Each canned-food sculpture was unique and illustrated the creativity of our community. There was the giant jar of peanut butter erected by the Lafayette After-School Program in their 1st Place winning sculputure - Peanut Butter Time! And the People's Choice Award Winner - Grow-A-Row, created by the Community Alliance with Family Farmers.

We have wanted to host a Cantruction® style event for many years now and are very pleased to have this goal realized. We are consistently overwhelmed by the giving spirit of our community and can't wait to see what next year's Cantruction® will bring!

Curves Fitness Center Food Drive

Curves fitness Center advertises its annual March food drive outside of their Cutten location, which brought in over 859 pounds of food this year! Thank you, Curves!

The Feinstein Challenge

Food for People accepted the Feinstein Challenge once again! Each year, Alan Shawn Feinstein donates a total of one million dollars which is divided amongst hunger relief agencies all across the country. Food for People was selected as one of the qualifying agencies for these additional funds. All food and funds donated to us during the months of March and April will receive Feinstein money from their Foundation added to it - the higher the donation collected in this time period, the greater amount of money Food for People will receive from the Feinstein $1 Million! We thank you all for your support and donations and helping us to receive these additional funds.
