For the second year in a row, state senator Mike McGuire is teaming up with amazing high school student leaders to feed neighbors in need this holiday season.
Please join us by making a donation to Food for People at our Drop Off & Donate event on December 12! All you need to do is swing by the Eureka Safeway – on your way home from work – and drop off some canned or dried food and we'll take care of the rest. Here are the details:
What: Drop-Off & Donate Holiday Food Drive. Bring non-perishable food items after work or purchase them on-site. Monetary donations are also accepted and 100 percent will be invested in Food for People, Humboldt’s leading hunger relief organization.
When: Wednesday, December 12, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Eureka Safeway, 2555 Harris Street in Eureka
Prizes: To celebrate your good deed, we'll have prizes every hour thanking folks for their generous donations.
This year’s event is bigger and better and we’re spreading more holiday generosity than ever!
The students at Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna, Arcata, McKinleyville and St. Bernard’s High Schools are all organizing their own food drives. Each school is in a friendly competition – the Holiday Food Drive Showdown – to collect as much non-perishable food as possible by December 13 and 100 percent of their proceeds will benefit Food for People.
Last year, more than 3,000 pounds of food was donated and Eureka High brought in the most food and won the Golden Can award. We want to double last year’s goal by December 12!
We hope you will join us as we help Humboldt's hungriest – and please spread the word and bring at least three of your neighbors!
