Holiday Spirit Food and Fund Drive

Thank you for joining in the fight against hunger in our community! The Holidays are a time of reflection and generosity. Please make sure we can serve families, seniors and children this winter by giving a financial donation or food at one of the Holiday Spirit Food and Fund Drive events this November and December.

Food for People is committed to expanding our services to meet increasing food insecurity and address the underlying causes of hunger and poverty in our community. However, we cannot do this without your generous support.

  • For more than 20 years, Food for People has partnered with local radio station KHUM for a multi-day, on-air food and fund drive. Starting December 9th we will broadcast live from different grocery stores throughout the county. Come by your neighborhood store to say hello and make a donation.

  • State Senate Leader Mike McGuire has teamed up with Food For People, KHUM radio and six local high schools for the ninth annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive.

High School students organize their own fundraisers, collecting food and financial donations from their community starting November 4th. The high schools that collect the most non-perishable food and the most funds each are awarded the “Golden Can” trophy.

In 2023, the 8th annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive collected a staggering 30,000 pounds of food and more than $52,000—all in support of the life-changing work of Food for People. This year, students and the community are preparing for an even bigger response from their neighbors. You can contribute through each school’s fundraising page below.

Hunger Fighter Challenge

As food, transportation, and other costs of essentials continue to rise, more and more of our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet. In just the past two years, the demand for food assistance has skyrocketed. Our Eureka Choice Pantry is now serving 30% more people than it did last year, and our other programs are experiencing similar growth.

Food for People is committed to expanding our services to meet this increased need and address the underlying causes of hunger and poverty in our community. However, we cannot do this without your generous support.

Join the Hunger Fighter Challenge, a community-wide food and fund drive supporting Food for People. Your donations will directly help us provide food and support to those in need. Create a team and join the fight against hunger today!

Virtual Food Drives are faster, easier and go farther:

  • Faster: With one simple click, Hunger Fighter Teams can collect donations online.

  • Easier: Leave the shopping up to us! Supporters donate from anywhere; funds allow us to purchase wholesale pallets of the most needed foods and distribute them quickly.

  • More effective: With our wholesale buying power, we can use each dollar your team collects to feed many more people. When your team collects funds, the impact is larger—and easier to transport! Monetary donations help us purchase foods that our clients want and need for a well-rounded diet, including fresh items that we can purchase in large quantities.
