Humboldt Holiday Food Drive
State Senate Leader Mike McGuire has teamed up with Food For People, KHUM radio and six local high schools for the ninth annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive, culminating with the Drop Off & Donate event at Safeway in Eureka on December 12 from 3-6 pm.
Shredding Hunger
Get ready to shred hunger at a benefit concert for Food for People, the food bank for Humboldt County! Local bands ThunderCloud, Red Hot Shame, The Widdershins and Matthew Wallace & the Shredding Hunger Band will be rocking at the Arcata Theatre Lounge on June 29 to raise money for Food for People’s programs that fight hunger in Humboldt.
Letter Carriers’ Food Drive
Saturday, May 11th marked the 32nd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive, the largest single-day food drive in Humboldt County. The National Association of Letter Carriers hosts an annual nationwide food drive to “Stamp Out Hunger” in partnership with local pantries and food banks. This year, our generous community and hardworking Letter Carriers joined forces to collect 20,695 pounds of food in Eureka, plus more at other sites across the county.
Cider for People
Last fall we received an abundance of donations of apples to our Gleaning program, but some of the apples could not be distributed in our food pantries, so in order to divert them from the waste stream we partnered with Humboldt Cider Co. to turn them into cider! This is the 3rd year we’ve partnered with Humboldt Cider Co. to produce “Cider for People.”
