    Carly Robbins, Executive Director

    Carly began working with people as the Development Director in 2015 managing the diverse development and capital projects that have helped Food for People grow into the thriving organization it is today. In July of 2023 she moved into the role of Executive Director for Food for People. A former Performing Arts Theatre Manager with a BA in Critical and Visual Studies from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York, she brings a wide range of management, funding, and communications experience to the role. She is a past president of the Rotary Club of Eureka and is a founding member and past president of the Lost Coast Rotaract Club. She is passionately committed to creating a healthy community in which everyone has an opportunity to grow and thrive with dignity.   • Allison Kenney, Local Food Resources Coordinator for Food for People

    Allison Kenney, Local Food Resources Coordinator

    Allison works with local farmers and backyard gardeners to utilize our region’s agricultural abundance to help supply Food for People programs with nutrient-dense produce. She is passionate about minimizing food waste and building community around food through the Gleaning program. Allison also manages our Food Drive program. Previously she has worked on organic vegetable farms in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Her background in growing food to feed her community inspired her to find a way to also help those in need. In her free time she can be found getting creative in the kitchen, backpacking in the Trinity Alps, or hunting for mushrooms.     Britt Gutierrez, Bilingual CalFresh Outreach Specialist

  • Chris Frisk, Warehouse Inventory Specialist for Food for People

    Chris Frisk, Warehouse Inventory Specialist

    Chris moved to Humboldt by way of Sacramento and Santa Barbara. Chris brings many skills to Food for People with approximately 20 years of retail and wholesale grocery experience, primarily in the produce world. As the Warehouse Inventory Specialist, Chris is heavily involved in our daily warehouse operations, helping to keep our inventory tight by tracking food usage and helping to plan and pack food orders for various program distributions.     Claire Weissbluth, Communications and Events Coordinator

    Claire is a visual storyteller born and raised in the hills of Southern Humboldt. She has an M.A. in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz and a B.A. from Hampshire College. Claire worked as a freelance filmmaker and youth media educator for many years in the Bay Area before moving back home to Humboldt. In her free time she likes to hike, garden, and watch movies.     Corey Tipton, Bookkeeper/Business Resources Manager

    Corey came to Food for People after many years working as a small business consultant and for other local nonprofits. As our Bookkeeper/Business Resources Manager, Corey wears many hats at the food bank (proudly sporting one for each day of the week). Corey brings a myriad of experience, from accounting and HR to IT to overseeing our vehicle fleet and building maintenance. A graduate of HSU with a degree in Journalism and Communications, with special emphasis in Environmental Ethics and Technology, Corey enjoys spending time with his young son, adventuring around the scenic beauty of Humboldt County’s beaches, rivers and mountains. Corey brings his passion for helping people - whether client, volunteer or staff - to ensure that everyone is treated fairly, with dignity and respect.   • David Reed, Development Director for Food for People

    David Reed, Development Director

    David has nearly 30 years’ experience helping donors make positive change in the world. Before coming to Food for People he worked as the director of development for public radio station KHSU, the Redwood Parks Conservancy, and as director of the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation. David grew up in Eureka and other Humboldt communities and now lives in Eureka with his wife Cori and his daughters Dani and Katie. He loves exploring the outdoors with his girls, cooking, and growing vegetables in their garden.   • Deborah Waxman, Director of Programs for Food for People

    Deborah Waxman, Director of Programs

    Deborah helps support overall food bank operations, providing training, guidance, grant reporting, and technical assistance for Food for People's staff and programs and ensuring that programs adhere to contracted regulations. She also helps facilitate the links between our food distribution programs and warehouse/logistics team. She formerly served as Food for People's Community Education & Outreach Coordinator, and has been with Food for People since 2007. Deborah graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a B.A. in Communications and received a Master's Degree from Humboldt State University's Environment & Community Program, with an emphasis on affordable housing.   • Ed Mitchell, Mobile Produce Pantry Specialist for Food for People

    Ed Mitchell, Mobile Produce Pantry Specialist

    In his role as Mobile Produce Pantry Specialist Ed prepares for and conducts farm stand-style free produce distributions for low-income households at established sites in communities across Humboldt County with our large, refrigerated 20-foot box truck. The Mobile Produce Pantry travel as far north as Orick, northeast to Willow Creek, Hoopa, Weitchpec, and Orleans, all the way south to Redway, and many spots in between.   • Erin Tharp, Choice Pantry Coordinator for Food for People

    Erin Tharp, Choice Pantry Coordinator

    Erin brings a lot of experience to her role as our Choice Pantry Coordinator, having spent a long time volunteering in the pantry before getting hired on to manage our senior and homebound programs. Originally from Santa Cruz, she moved to Humboldt County in 2013 with her kids (who by the way, love going to the beach and hiking through the woods with their mom). Erin believes in the work we do at Food for People and feels it is really important to our community. She is grateful for the opportunity to be part of that work.     Heidi McHugh, CalFresh Outreach & Policy Advocacy Coordinator

    Heidi coordinates Food for People's Calfresh Outreach, Hunger 101, and advocacy programs. A graduate of HSU with a degree in Zoology, Heidi proceeded to become a passionate advocate for social justice. When she's not working, you can find her wrangling her two young sons and her dogs.     Julie Ryan, Volunteer & Direct Services Manager

    Julie wants you to volunteer at Food for People, and she is the main source for upcoming and ongoing opportunities to fit almost any schedule. Whether it's a weekly food distribution, monthly packing project in the warehouse, or special drive-through distribution, Julie ensures that Food for People is a safe welcoming space for all. Julie enjoys wearing many hats and helping to support all of Food for Peoples programs. She is a Humboldt State graduate who has served the local community by working and volunteering in the non-profit sector and is dedicated to making her corner of the universe a better place. When not at Food for People, Julie spends her time volunteering, reading, gardening, and delights in taking her dog on adventures.   • Judy Langley, Fundraising Administrative Assistant for Food for People

    Judy Langley, Fundraising Administrative Assistant

    Judy assists our Development Director with processing donations and completing a variety of other projects that need attention. A retired postmaster, with a BA in English/Theatre Arts from Humboldt State, she brings a variety of skills to Food for People. She has served on the board for Redwood Coast Montessori for four years as Chairman and belongs to Redwood Empire Quilters Guild. In her free time, she enjoys her family, volunteering at her daughter’s school, quilting, reading, playing computer games, and teaching her children to grow food and create new food dishes.     Karen Asbury, Sourcing & Inventory Control Manager

    Karen manages our complex Inventory Database. She has a long history of working with non-profits, coming most recently from the Ink People Center for the Arts. Karen is a computer science major with an AS in Computer Information Systems (CIS) and is a Certified Networking Technician.     Matthew Seitzler, Warehouse Specialist

    Matthew is a Warehouse Specialist at Food for People where he works as a part of the team responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of Food for People’s warehouse, including supporting distribution programs’ warehouse logistics, food transfers, delivery of food pallets to remote site partners, and training and supervision of assigned volunteers in the warehouse.     Robert Sataua, Emergency Food Response Coordinator, Human Resources Administrative Assistant

    Robert leads the emergency food response and management program countywide to address food access needs during seasonal wildfires, winter storms, earthquakes and pandemics.   • Nora Lovell, Pantry Network Coordinator for Food for People

    Nora Lovell, Pantry Network Coordinator

    Nora is the Pantry Network Coordinator at Food for People. She helps make sure that all of our remote pantry locations are stocked with the food and resources they need to serve their communities. She loves meeting all of the people who work at our various pantries (from Orick in the north to Garberville in the south, and out east to Hoopa, Bridgeville, and beyond) and making sure we all feel like one big Food for People family. Nora grew up in Humboldt County before getting a degree in Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems from UC Davis. In her free time, Nora is often baking, gardening, and hanging out with her pets.
