Food Drives
Food Drives are part of our Local Food Resources Program. Food donations from the community help us feed an increasing number of people in need throughout Humboldt County. Donated foods help keep our on-site Choice Pantry stocked with foods that meet families’ nutritional needs, and also help do the same for pantries across our countywide Pantry Network. To learn more about food drives and food donations, or to plan a food drive of your own, contact our Local Food Resources Coordinator at fooddrives@foodforpeople.org or call (707) 445-3166 ext. 312.
Donate Food Directly To Us
We accept food donations at 307 W. 14th Street in Eureka Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm. Please place your nonperishable donations into the large donation bin located in the alleyway, or find a staff member to help if you’d like a receipt for your donation. If you have a perishable donation such as produce, please find a staff member to assist you with your donation.
Letter Carriers Food Drive
You can help your letter carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” in our community by participating in the country’s largest one-day food drive! It’s easy to participate. On the second Saturday in May, look for the blue donation bags in your mailbox the week leading up to the food drive. Simply place your donations of non-perishable food in the bag and your letter carrier will do the rest, picking up donations and delivering them to Food for People and our network of countywide food pantries. If interested in volunteering for this event, call (707) 445-3166 ext. 310 or email volunteer@foodforpeople.org call 707 445-3166 ext. 310.
Humboldt Holiday Food & Fund Drive
Senator Mike McGuire has teamed up with Food For People, KHUM radio and six local high schools for the annual Humboldt Holiday Food Drive for eight years in a row. In 2023 the Humboldt Holiday Food and Fund Drive brought in over 30,000 pounds of food and more than $52,000.
